Sport prediction An appeal against Yastremska`s ban was rejected
Ukrainian tennis player Diana Yastremska has been denied a complaint against a temporary ban on a positive doping test, the International Tennis Federation announced.
The 20-year-old athlete, who is currently in quarantine in Melbourne before the start of the Australian Open on February 8, has been suspended after a positive doping test, which was established on January 7.
The result for the banned substance mesterolone comes a sample submitted on November 24, 2020, the ITF announced.
World No. 29 Jastremska denies the use of banned substances or drugs to improve effectiveness.
`I am surprised and shocked, especially considering that two weeks before this test I had negative results mentioned by sport livescores at the WTA tournament in Linz, ` said Jastremska.
The decision is subject to appeal before the Sports Arbitration Court.
`Yastremskaya should not have had the right to travel, ` wrote Richard Ings, a former tennis referee and former executive director of the Australian sports anti-doping body, on Twitter.
